I, (Helene McMahon) was very keen to show and it was in 1978 that I got my first Min Pin from Punjahbi kennels.
This dog became Ch Punjahbi Paper Tiger and I was hooked on showing.
It was at the Victorian Min Pin specialty show a year later in 1979 that I met Keith Rose.
At this show I saw the Roepin dogs and loved this type.
After showing for about two years I purchased a red bitch from Ruby Pollock and started to show her.
I still had the Roepin type in my mind so I took a trip to Queensland to visit the Roepin kennels to see their stock at home.
I recall sitting and watching the dogs and taking particular fancy to a Black and Tan dog. I asked Keith if I could take this dog home.
Keith agreed and this dog was the first dog that I owned to win a Best In Group award.
This dog was Ch Roepin Ima Tiger and he became the foundation of Khanrae kennels.

The Khanrae name was derived as Min Pins were originally called Rae Pinschers.
This was because they were said to be deer like hence the name Rae.
I also loved Khan as it meant mighty or King. The two words were put together.
From there I purchased a bitch from Royce Walters and Cath Wookey of Alljo Kennels.
They had imported a bitch in whelp from England and from this litter I purchased a bitch who was Alljo High Lea.
After titling her I decided that she would be mated to Ch Roepin Ima Tiger. In this litter there were four beautiful puppies.
One puppy went to Roepin Kennels in lieu of a stud fee – he was Ch Khanrae Smart Leigh.
Keith Rose campaigned this dog very successfully winning multiple Best in Show All Breeds and Specialty.
His sister Khanrae Tiger Roselea was retained by myself and she later became a champion also winning Best In Groups and was Victoria’s Top Min Pin in her day.
It was at this time that I met Leslie Wilson of Leoricia Kennels who was then Secretary of the Min Pin Club of Victoria.
We began to use each others dog at stud and the blending of the lines saw many influential Min Pins produced.
Khanrae Monopoly was put to Ch Leoricia India and this combination produced my beautiful Ch Leoricia Kismet who did an enormous amount of winning.
This bitch was adored and though long passed will be remembered forever.

Skipping to more recent times it was in 1994 that I had a very severe accident which I realised would stop my showing career.
I had been out of the ring for two years trying to recover from the accident when I decided to come out of my
forced retirement and enter a show. That show was Min Pin Open Show in Melbourne under Ashley Reid.
Ashley’s Best In Show winner was the bitch Khanrae Dangerous Curves.
I ventured out to another show a few months later and Ashley commented that if I ever had a nice puppy he would be happy to show it.
A short while after this a red male puppy was offered to him which he accepted. This puppy became the big winning Ch Khanrae Outrageous “Flynn”.
This was the start of a partnership that still exists today with myself breeding the dogs, and Ashley campaigning them.
Ashley is now a full partner in the Khanrae prefix.

Back to the breeding side of things and it was decided to use the Black and Tan dog Grand Ch Armati Black Magic
on the big winning red bitch Ch Khanrae Dinky Doyle.
This litter produced Ch Khanrae Dallas Doyle who became the sire of the Top Winning Min Pin in Australasia’s history
being Multi BIS/BISS Grand Champion Khanrae By Design.
This dog was given to Keith and Bev Rose who campaigned him throughout his career.
Keith has remained a true friend of Khanrae Kennels throughout the years.
When Bev passed away Keith decided to give up showing dogs and entrusted us to continue campaigning his dogs.
Amongst those dogs sent was Australasia’s biggest winning Min Pin bitch BIS/BISS Grand Ch Silkvale Hey Sexy Lady.
Since arrving at Khanrae she has won many more All Breeds and specialty BIS and is currently leading as Australia’s Top Winning Min Pin for 2007.

The tradition continues with dogs campaigned by several owners whose pages follow
but mention must be made of the dog who completes the Australasian “trifecta” of biggest winners.
This dog is Multi BIS/BISS NZ Ch Khanrae Child’s Play who has become the biggest winning Min Pin of all time in NZ.

It would be remiss not to name the other Khanrae Grand Champions –
our own Grand Ch Khanrae Watch Me Dance, (campaigned mainly by Ashley Reid but assisted by Karen Travis),
and Bob and Sue O’Brien’s Grand Ch Khanrae Breakdance.
There are several other Khanrae dogs who are nearing their Grand Championships.

Today the Khanrae dogs are handled by Ashley who is ably assisted in campaigning the dogs by Gerald Munro.
The Khanrae prefix is proud of the success of their dogs both as show dogs in the ring, and as pets in the home environment.
There are too many to mention individually however we would like to sincerely thank all of the people who have acquired Khanrae dogs
and who have supported us and become true promoters of the breed.
Without these people Khanrae Kennels could not lay claim to the success that they have had.
We hope that they are as proud of us as we are of them.

It is these people who can truly state that they are members of “Team Khanrae”.
